Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism Policy

The International Journal of Applied Research in Management, Economics and Accounting (IJMEA) is committed to maintaining high standards of academic integrity and research ethics. Plagiarism and other forms of inappropriate reuse of scholarly work are considered serious violations of publication ethics.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the presentation of another person's words, ideas, data, figures, results, or other intellectual contributions as one's own without appropriate acknowledgment or citation.

Plagiarism may include, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text, ideas, data, or other material without proper attribution;

  • Submitting another person's work as one's own;

  • Excessive use of previously published material without appropriate citation;

  • Self-plagiarism or inappropriate reuse of substantial portions of an author's own previously published work;

  • Duplicate or redundant publication;

  • Unattributed translation of previously published material;

  • Manipulation or reuse of figures, tables, or other materials without appropriate permission or attribution.

Plagiarism Screening

All submitted manuscripts may be screened for plagiarism or inappropriate text reuse during the editorial process.

The journal may use plagiarism-detection software or other appropriate methods to identify substantial textual overlap or other forms of inappropriate reuse.

A similarity score alone does not automatically constitute plagiarism. Editors consider the nature, extent, location, context, and source of the detected similarity before making an editorial decision.

Commonly used and properly cited technical terms, references, standard methodological descriptions, and other legitimate forms of textual similarity may not constitute plagiarism.

Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submitted manuscripts are original and that all sources, ideas, quotations, data, figures, and other materials obtained from other works are appropriately acknowledged and cited.

By submitting a manuscript to IJMEA, authors confirm that:

  • The manuscript is their original work;

  • All sources have been appropriately acknowledged;

  • The manuscript has not been published elsewhere in substantially the same form;

  • The manuscript is not simultaneously under consideration by another journal;

  • Any previously published material has been properly cited and, where necessary, permission has been obtained;

  • All authors have approved the submitted version of the manuscript.

Previously Published and Reused Material

Authors must disclose any substantial overlap between the submitted manuscript and their previous publications or other works.

Where portions of a previously published work are legitimately reused, appropriate citation and disclosure are required.

The journal may request clarification or additional documentation when substantial overlap with previous publications is identified.

Manuscripts with Suspected Plagiarism

If substantial plagiarism or inappropriate text reuse is identified before publication, the journal may take one or more of the following actions depending on the severity and circumstances:

  • Request an explanation or clarification from the authors;

  • Request revision of the manuscript;

  • Reject the manuscript;

  • Refer the matter to the authors' affiliated institution or relevant authority where appropriate;

  • Take additional action in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics and Research Integrity Policy.

Plagiarism Identified After Publication

If plagiarism or significant inappropriate text reuse is discovered after publication, IJMEA may investigate the matter and take appropriate corrective action.

Depending on the circumstances and severity, the journal may:

  • Publish a correction;

  • Publish an expression of concern;

  • Retract the article;

  • Amend the article record where appropriate;

  • Notify relevant institutions or organizations when necessary.

Any post-publication action will be taken with the aim of maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.

Appeals

Authors may appeal an editorial decision related to plagiarism screening or suspected plagiarism in accordance with the journal's Complaints and Appeals Policy.

An appeal should provide specific evidence or explanations addressing the concerns raised by the editorial office.

Ethical Standards

IJMEA expects authors, editors, and reviewers to uphold recognized principles of academic integrity and responsible research and publication practices.

The journal reserves the right to take appropriate action when evidence of plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabrication, falsification, or other forms of research misconduct is identified.
